Still time to submit a poster proposal for QAA International Student Transitions Conference!

The deadline for posters has been extended until 7th April.

This is a great opportunity to be part of the largest learning and teaching conference in the UK, which is taking place in Glasgow on the 6-8th June. Transitions Skills and Strategies – free webinar series and resources

QAA Scotland is running a series of highly-relevant 30-minute lunchtime webinars exploring resources created as part of the Transition Skills and Strategies project 2014-16. As part of the project, resources were created which aim to provide information about transition strategies. It also provides HE staff with materials they can use to run group or one-to-one sessions with students who may be struggling with transitions.

The resources cover the following transition skills:

  • Self-belief (self-efficacy)
  • Self-management of expectations
  • Critical self-reflection
  • Academic resilience
  • Mindset
  • Time management.

Webinars are available for student support staff; teaching staff; students’ association staff; staff that deal with student inductions; and curriculum and programme management staff. Each will explore how the package can be used in day-to-day work with students and assist their transitions.

A new module from CASTLE

     STEP UP word cloud

This semester sees the pilot delivery of a new module as part of the Student Transition Enhancement Programme for University Progress (STEP UP), run by CASTLE in collaboration with Academic Schools and DUSA. STEP UP aims to improve and enhance students’ experience as they transition from further to higher education, using the underlying philosophy of Becoming, Being & Belonging. A group of Associate students from Dundee & Angus College is currently undertaking the module prior to their entry into Year Two of their degree programmes in both the School of Humanities and DJCAD. We’ll evaluate and report on the module at a future date. More information from castle@dundee.ac.uk
